It's Halloween in July here at Black Bears! This is the first of several posts with inspiration for your next Halloween decorating spree. A spooky spell book, gruesome apothecary jars and a creepy twist on an old favorite - Christmas crackers - are yet to come. I hope you enjoy the posts and pictures as much as I enjoyed crafting the ghostly goodies.

Halloween Floral Arrangement Black Bears & Bumble Bees |
I started with a candle stick that I painted with Krylon dark brown and a black texturing spray paint and added a plastic skull I bought at Amazon (of course. Prime is your friend!). I made a platform for the skull on top of the candlestick with some scrap plastic clay, baked it and glued it with 2 part epoxy. I cut the top inch or so off the hollow skull and filled the cavity with dry floral foam.

Halloween Floral Arrangement with Moss Black Bears & Bumble Bees |
I left a space at the back where the battery pack for the purple wheat lights sits. I added multi mosses from a variety pack bought at, you guessed it, Amazon. I used floral wire "U" to pin the moss to the foam. I glued a spider just inside the left eye socket.

Halloween Floral Arrangement on Mantle Black Bears & Bumble Bees |
I made a couple dozen crepe paper leaves, 29 crepe paper flowers of five different varieties and some wire "twigs." I used purple, black and cream crepe paper for the flowers and dark green for the leaves.

As you can see I added my arrangement to the fireplace mantle with pipe insulation chain, black candles and several little spiders scattered about.

Halloween Floral Arrangement with Lights Black Bears & Bumble Bees |
After placing the flowers I wove the wheat lights through the stems. Here is the arrangement with low outside lights and the purple wheat lights lit. You can see the spider on the eye socket in this picture.
I hope you love the first of my first Halloween inspiration and please do leave comments. If you have any questions I will reply as soon as possible. Thanks for looking, Lori
