While brainstorming ideas for this month's Halloween
posts I came across some Christmas Crackers and I
immediately thought "why can't I do the same idea
for Halloween?" So completely ignoring the long
standing tradition of Christmas Crackers for millions of
families across the world, I present - Halloween Crackers!

I used 2" mailing tubes that I cut to 4" lengths with a chop
saw. I cleaned the edges with a light sanding. The tubes are
wrapped in cheap crepe paper because the more expensive
crepe paper does rip very well. I cut the paper 12" wide by 14" long which wrapped twice around the tube. I placed a snap in
each prior to rolling the paper around the tube.
I tied each end with two pieces of 8" ribbon and
finished with the Halloween labels purchased from Etsy's
Chocolate Rabbit. They are digital downloads that
I printed on label paper and cut with a craft knife.
As you can see I fit a eyeball bouncy ball, two frog
slingshots, a ball of play putty and several random bugs
from a bag o' bugs. I purchase everything at Amazon
but I would imagine the dollar store would be a great
place to shop. You could also easily add some
packaged hard candy or creepy stickers in the tube.
There are several sources on the internet for the snaps and with more detailed instructions for making your own crackers. These would make a great "goodie bag" for your Halloween party goers. And could be quite economically made if you started saving
tubes now and grabbing small items at the dollar store.
You can even make them without the "snap" saving even more money, though the "snap" is a fun part of the action.
