Spooky Halloween Spell Ingredients

This is my last Halloween in July post. I'll keep the rest of my crazy Pinterest inspired Halloween ideas for this October!

I combined a hand-bound spell book, some hand-crafted apothecary jars and some black candles for a spooky presentation.

I used my photo editing software to make the labels for the jars.
And used whatever empty jars and bottles I had thrown on a box for the last few months. I used some fake teeth, oil, flour, fake scorpions, fishing lures, and floral water beads (and the below eyeball) to fill the jars.

This is a cheap plastic eyeball with red yarn tails glued around it to simulate as if the eye had been pulled from the socket. I printed out a realistic pupil from the internet and glued it in place. I added some red yarn veins and then brushed clean nail polish over all. I used hot glue to add the read yarn tails around the eyeball. The eye and tails are floating in plain water. The fact that the original eyeball was hollow but sealed tight made the eyeball float, which turned out to be a nice touch.

I printed out some pages from Etsy's sky fire graphics Book of Shadows for the spell book pages and hand wrote and colored the remaining. I sewed several pages into a book and did a quick binding job that I think I will rebind in time for fall. If I write and color a couple pages every few days I'll have quite the spell book come Halloween.

Thanks for playing along with my Halloween in July posts and I would love to see your spooky creations. Lori
