I have been having a crises of creativity!

For most of my adult life I have had ideas for new projects rolling around in my head on a daily basis. I will brew on an idea, think on variations, supplies, branch out to see if another path is better, sometimes doing this for days. I'll research the supplies online to make sure they are valid and available, following new products I find, which sometimes leads to a whole new idea.

Anyway, the last few weeks have been without even the littlest smidgen of an idea. I have cruised Etsy, Pinterest and Amazon hoping something will spark. I will admit that I don't like Pinterest for free wheeling ideas. If you know for what you are looking it is great but if you are brainstorming, not so much. I have gone though my lists of ideas that I jot down everywhere, hoping something would trigger that lovely feeling of creativity. But nothing ....

Finally, I was looking online at the Tiny Tile website (which is currently closed as Irma severely impacted the US Virgin Islands, where they are located. I hope they are all well) as I love the idea of working in miniature. Then I came across some talavera tiles someplace online and I remembered I had some saved in my 'favorites' on Etsy.  I shuffled through those saved items, looked for some others, checked Amazon, googled talavera tiles, got sidetracked by some beautiful stencils and backtracked to Etsy. This process took 7 or 8 hours total over a couple days. But whether I was poking around the internet or not, I was thinking on what to do the with the tiles, mosaic, birdbath, etc... How could I put together talavera tiles and mini glass tiles?

And then, ta da! I was back! I found some tiles with koi fish on a white background at a seller's shop on Etsy that just spoke to me immediately. I could see how striking they would be with orange accent tiles. They were nothing like anything I had been looking at or anything I had ever looked at before. Next I found some tiles to work with the koi tiles and I was off. A mosaic in a black colored shallow planter to make a bird bath!

I do not know how others find their creative ideas but I can tell you that for me, this process works. I encourage everyone to follow the method that works for you and not try to follow what someone tells you or what you may read. There is no right way or wrong way to reach your ideas, there is only the way that works for you. And ultimately, every dry spell comes to an end! Yay!
